This is a bounded rollback for a verified update regression. Historical reports include File Explorer failure after KB5032190 and Start-menu failure after KB5065426/KB5066835. Confirm the actual installed KB/build, onset and known issue before choosing removal; a recent update alone is not proof.
- Back up important data, save work and record the exact installed update and Windows build.
- From a working Windows session, open Settings > Windows Update > Update history > Uninstall updates.
- Select only the exact implicated removable quality update, confirm removal and restart. If it is not listed or cannot be removed, stop; do not substitute a similarly named package or force-delete Windows files.
- Repeat the original Explorer or Start-menu operation before making another change.
- Keep any pause temporary and obtain the applicable corrected/superseding update. For Windows that cannot start, use the separate Windows Recovery procedure in FIX-007.
Confirm the original symptom is absent after repeated normal starts and document the installed build. Restore security servicing with the applicable corrected or superseding update. If removal makes no difference, reassess the cause instead of uninstalling additional updates.
